Bahla Fort is one of the oldest and most significant forts in Oman, located in the historic oasis town of Bahla. Recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it forms part of a larger historic settlement that includes ancient walls, towers, and traditional mudbrick architecture.
The fort was once a powerful stronghold of the Banu Nebhan tribe, who controlled the region between the 12th and 15th centuries. Its massive scale and complex defensive design reflect its importance as a political and military centre in inland Oman.
Surrounded by the old town and its ancient walls, Bahla Fort offers a powerful sense of history and remains one of the most atmospheric heritage sites in the country.
