Day-by-Day Itinerary
Muscat – Nizwa Fort & Souq – Wahiba Sands Desert – Dune Bashing & Sunset from Dunes
After an early rise breakfast in the morning at hotel, you will depart to the Nizwa. We will visit spectacular Nizwa Fort with its massive Circular Cannon Tower, one of the most impressive forts in Oman. The fort is a museum today and offers splendid views of this ancient town and the surrounding mountains. You can walk around in this impressive fortress and visit its many rooms, passages and towers.
Later visit the Nizwa traditional Souq. The Souq is a lively place and an ideal location to purchase handicrafts and souvenirs. A wide variety of vendors offer their goods in the streets of the souk from 05:00 am to about 10:00 am each morning. Here you can find fish, meat, vegetables, pottery, jewelry, handicrafts and souvenirs which are sold in authentic old market halls that few places can boast.
Next you will start your journey to Wahiba Sands. In the heart of the golden sands of Sharqiyah Desert nestled among stunning and ever changing patterns of sand dunes, is the Desert Camp. Here you will find a luxurious chalet.
After settling into the camp you will be offered the amazing experience of dune bashing, with a spectacular view of the sunset. Followed by delicious Arabic Cuisine along with live entertainment whilst you sit under a starry sky around a Camp Fire this truly is a once in a lifetime experience.
Overnight at Al Salam Camp.
Desert – Bedouin House Visit – Wadi Bani Khalid – Ibra – Muscat
After an early breakfast at the desert camp, you will depart on an exciting 4wd journey through the desert and visit the local Bedouin house and have Omani Coffee. You will enjoy their traditional ways of hospitality.
Our next stop will be Wadi Bani Khalid, one of Oman’s most beautiful wadis. The wadi has clear deep blue water and counts among the few wadis of Oman that hold water all year round. From the mountain springs, the water is led to the oasis where it sustains the typical date palms. The pretty villages of Wadi Bani Khalid cling precariously to the rugged mountainside.
Once you refreshed, youur next stop at Ibra for a closer look at the watch towers proudly looking over the villages from top of the hills. Mountains surround Ibra on every side, and there is some outstanding mountain scenery close by.
Later you will start your journey towards Muscat.
