2-DAY OMAN TOUR WITH OVERNIGHT IN JEBEL AKHDAR
A private two-day journey from Muscat to the mountains of Jebel Akhdar, combining the heritage of Nizwa Fort and Souq, the charm of Birkat Al Mouz, and scenic mountain villages, orchards and viewpoints.
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Muscat – Nizwa Fort & Souq – Birkat Al Mauz Village – Jebel Akhdar
After an early breakfast at the hotel, you will depart for Nizwa. We will visit the spectacular Nizwa Fort with its massive Circular Cannon Tower, one of the most impressive forts in Oman. The fort is a museum today and offers splendid views of this ancient town and the surrounding mountains. You can walk around this impressive fortress and visit its many rooms, passages and towers.
Later, visit the traditional Nizwa Souq. The Souq is a lively place and an ideal location to purchase handicrafts and souvenirs. A wide variety of vendors offer their goods in the streets of the souq from 05:00 am to about 10:00 am each morning. Here you can find fish, meat, vegetables, pottery, jewelry, handicrafts and souvenirs, sold in authentic old market halls.
Next, you will start your journey to the eastern side of the mountains. On the way, visit Birkat Al Mauz, where you can walk through the old village ruins and admire the falaj irrigation system, still in use today.
By late afternoon, ascend the winding road into Jebel Akhdar, where your overnight stay awaits at a mountain resort. Spend a peaceful evening at a higher altitude, with cool temperatures and dinner surrounded by mountain silence.
Jebel Akhdar – Free Time at the Resort – Explore Jebel Akhdar – Muscat
After breakfast, if you are interested, you can spend some time at the resort’s Adventure Park.
Later in the late morning, you will explore the Saiq Plateau. You will visit the villages of Al Ayn and Al Aqur, stroll through pomegranate orchards and take in the incredible views from Diana’s Point.
If time permits, stop at a local fruit stall or honey vendor before returning to Nizwa in the early afternoon. Later, you will start your journey towards Muscat.
