Nizwa Fort is one of Oman’s most important and best-preserved forts, located in the heart of the historic city of Nizwa. Built in the 17th century during the reign of Imam Sultan bin Saif Al Ya’rubi, it was designed to defend the region and protect the city’s vital trade routes and agricultural lands.
The fort is instantly recognisable for its massive circular tower, one of the largest of its kind in Oman, built to withstand attacks and provide a strategic vantage point over the surrounding area. From the top, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of Nizwa’s old town, palm groves, and the surrounding mountains.
